| 4 ways of creating KILLING subjects |
|
Did you notice that the subjects that were created in the right way are all-important? If you’ll send an email to your colleague with the following subject: “NAME, URGENTLY!”, your letter will be definitely noted.
Such techniques are also applied to direct email marketing and are efficient too. But only in the case when you use a smart way to create your subject. Otherwise people will unsubscribe.
So how should you create your email subjects?
There is no common method. But there are some simple principles, that are suitable for every audience and niche.
There is no common method. But there are some simple principles, that are suitable for every audience and niche.
Method №1: Mini - intrigue
If you are subscribed to several newsletters, you must have noticed a letter of the kind.. The chemistry is simple – the subject should raise interest or be intrigant. And this should be done in such a way, that the reader doesn’t guess what’s in the content of your letter
Examples: John, Urgently! Surprise! John, you can’t refuse... I’m shocked...
Method №2: Questions
This is quite a popular method in direct email marketing. Your question can be an abstract one like: “Am I crazy?” and give a 50% discount in the body of your email or ask questions related to your email content – “You still can’t design good web-sites?” (the sending is about Web-site design).
Examples (the “Internet Earnings” niche): How I earned $5000, sitting on the toilet bowl? Do you have an idea how much money rotates in the Internet? $10000 - $30000 - $50000 , how much do you need? Start an internet business at 65 ? What are you waiting for?
Method №3: The Core
The simplest and easiest method. If you describe the core of your email in your subject, for example “Article + demo + photo of my hamster”, the interest to your email will be reduced.
The reason is very obvious – everything that is uncovered and clear isn’t interesting. From the other side, if you always use this method for your sendings and your readers recognize you by it, it’s your right.
Examples (“Weight loss”): The fattest women of the world The story of a woman who lost 50 kg in 6 months My tried-and-true diet for 10 kg minus in the first month of use Simple and effective weight loss video-lessons
Method №4: Monotone Variety
Despite the odd name of the method its core is very clear. The Sender uses the same beginning of the subject in each sendings, the only part that changes (the variable) is the ending.
For example “New business ideas, part 10”. In each email the beginning of the subject remains the same.
At first glance, it seems as such subjects have nothing out of the common and people will not open such emails. But in the practice, creating subjects in this way has a strong and permanent response. And as longer you have such sendings, your response will be better and better (your subscribers will not confuse you with somebody else).
Therefore, on the one hand the method “Mini-intrigue” is good because it will bring a high response, but in the same time if your subscribers are subscribed to other newsletters your emails may be lost in the pile.
The best way is to follow the golden mean approach and from time to time change your methods. |
